Wish I had this book earlier

For my first theory course, we had handouts and another book. And our class was mostly lost. As a novice nursing student, theory can be really difficult and hard to grasp. For our second course we used this book, and finally it clicked. We also had 2 amazing professors, but this book explained theory and theory development really well for students who don't understand it well. If this isn't required for your class and only recommended - buy it (used of course) or rent it or find a copy from the library. This is a great resource for new nursing students struggling with theory.

Good summary, easy to read

Normally I don't buy the current version of books for my nursing theory classes, or don't buy them at all and try to find the same information online. BUT this time I bought it, and have been so glad. I used it a decent amount for my first theory class, and now am using it for a class it wasn't even required for! It helps in writing papers that you do not need the original author of a theory for. The authors do a good job of summarizing nursing theories, even the boring and ones that seem silly to be real theories. One reviewer said they could have been more objective, and I agree. I would like to see more non-nursing theories and their application to nursing.
I do not like the index and the table of contents could be better. The TOC for the most part only names theories and subsets of theories, but not the theorists, and I tend to know the theorist. Not every theorist named in the book is listed in the index, so if you once read something somewhere deep inside it and only recall the theorist name it is a pain to find the same section/page again.

Not happy with seller Book was great for the course

The book was great for the course I was taking but the seller did not meet expectations. Marina Kandova sold the book as new which clearly it was not. pages were marked up and it looked worn. Contacted the seller and she said she was sorry that she was very busy and didn't realize she had written in the book. I could have bought a new book for the same price which is what I thought I was doing. My class was starting so I did not have time to return and order another book from a differ vendor. Will not order from this person again.
