Her techniques work!

I have many books for polymer clay, but Angie's techniques are among the best I've seen. Her instruction for caning was so well described that I created perfect lemons, oranges, and limes the first time, and all in one evening. She gave me so much confidence that I decided to try a more difficult project. I made the cutest crab tonight. I can't wait to do the other projects in this book. Angie's fish are without a doubt the most realistic I have seen anywhere; so, with the confidence she's given me, I plan to attempt one of these in the very near future. If you are interested in milafiori, I highly recommend this book. After you have completed her projects, you should have developed a working knowledge of this process. I hope that she writes other books. I also suggest that you look at her instructional videos. They are extremely helpful.

DETIAILED BEYOND BELIEF!

If you are into miniatures and polymer clay in particular, you HAVE to get this book! Angie sets such a high standard that your work becomes a work of art - admired by everyone! She starts with the bakery and deli stall (tarts, breakds, cakes, salami, pork pies and cheeses) to meat stalls (bacom, chops, poultry, beef...sausages) to fruit and veges (from potatoes to cucumbers with transluscent seeds to grapes), the fish stall and market display items. I have made the oranges and our Pitermaritzburg mini group found them amazing - with pith divisions etc.
Don't think you have to be a "pro to do the projects either - with patience they are easily attainable. A MUST - you wont be sorry!

How to mix colors

I've been reading reviews and nodding agreement... and then noticed that no one has mentioned that Angie gives exact how-to instructions for mixing each of the colors she uses. I've found that very useful. This is an excellent book for teaching techniques.

Patrick Frank first taught the history of Latin American modern art in a university context in 1995. He is the author of several books and articles on the subject, focusing especially on graphic art and art in Argentina. Great introduction to art

I just puchased the latest edition of Artforms which includes the CD-ROM with interactive explanations on elements of art. Artforms is a great introduction to art and art history for those who have always wanted to understand how to look at art and interpret it for themselves. Over half the book is dedicated to elements and principles of art and craftsmanship. I use this book in training my art museum volunteers so that they have a clear understanding of why some works of art have strong visual impact while others do not. I like how the book uses a mix of artwork from various time periods, media and cultures to explain the elements and principles. Far too many art/art history books become a history of painting, and Artforms represents a variety of art forms other than 2D. The history portion of the book is a gloss of art history, but good enough for someone just delving into art. The book is easy to read, relatively jargon-free and has a nice glossary at the end. I wish the CD had more information on it that you could use in a classroom setting, projecting it on an overhead, but that is my instructor point of view. For someone studying at home it is quite nice. To sum up, the book is so good I now own two editions and will continue to recommend it to people who want to understand how to look at art.

Wrong edition

I bought this book, and the accompanying ArtNotes, as a textbook. It is, however, an old edition of the book that has been superseded. The new edition - the one assigned for the course - is the 9th edition, not the 8th. If you're buying this book for your personal use, fine, but if it is for coursework, don't. I am quite disappointed in Amazon. Next time, I buy at the college bookstore. A rating is required. My rating is not of the book, but of Amazon's performance.

About the Author
Robby Gallaty is the Senior Pastor of Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In 2008, he founded Replicate Ministries to educate, equip and empower disciples to make disciples (For Free disciple-making resources visit: replicateministries.org). �He holds a M.Div., Th.M., and a Ph.D. in preaching from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Robby is also the author of Growing Up: How to Be a Disciple Who Makes Disciples. He and his wife Kandi have been investing in believers for more than a decade and are the proud parents of two sons, Rig and Ryder.

Firmly Planted Is A Must Purchase, A Must Read For Every Pastor

A little over a year ago, I was flat of my back in a nursing home recovering from back surgery and related complications. It was through those weeks that I was exposed to the teaching of Robby Gallaty. I heard weeks of teaching on discipleship and realized that the lack of discipleship and accountability was the reason most churches were dead and ineffective. So I bought Growing Up and gained a great tool to help me be a better disciple and to make disciples of others.

Now, Robby has produced his second book, Firmly Planted. If it only contained the first two chapters, it would be well worth the purchase. Conservative estimates say that anywhere from 50% to 80% of church members are actually unsaved. They look to the fact that their name is on a church role or that they hold some church office as proof of their salvation, when their lives demonstrate nothing of the biblical evidences of salvation.

This book could help lead unsaved church members out of their deadness and their churches into revival and renewal. I heartily recommend that every pastor purchase this book and use it to help your church become all that God intended it to be.

This a must read for every believer who wants to draw closer to Christ.

As a planned sequel to Growing Up, Dr. Gallaty's great introductory book on discipleship, Firmly Planted encourages and guides the believer toward an even deeper and more intense pursuit of a life that draws us closer to Christ in all of life's endeavors. If you are serious about growing your faith and becoming more like Christ, this is a must read.

Firmly Planted: A Book You'll Read and then Use Again and Again.

In the first book of the series, Growing Up, Robby makes the case for the priority of making disciples in the life of a believer. In Firmly Planted, he provides a practical tool to help you do just that. This book helps give clarity and understanding to some the basic issues of the Christian faith. For the long-time believer is a great reminder of the truths of Scripture; for the new believer it is a resource to help build a strong foundation to their faith.

I plan to use this book regularly with discipleship small groups. The straightforward approach Firmly Planted takes will work great for that environment. Spread throughout each chapter are questions to consider that will cause reflection and life application. These questions don't give the impression of a "workbook" that needs completing as many discipleship books do - instead they provide a well-timed pause to emphasize the content.

Buy this book. Read this book. Use this book again and again.

Saussy, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and author (Miracle on Main Street) turned conspiracy theorist, makes a case here that will strike most readers as awash in bigotry (of the anti-Catholic variety): "[T]he papacy really does run United States foreign policy, and always has." To prove that, for example, the pope controls Washington, Saussy offers "evidence" such as the number of Catholic senators and other high government officials or that "the land known today as the District of Columbia bore the name `Rome' in 1663 property records." Further, he argues that the Jesuits "have imbued western culture with a purely Catholic political theory" the theory underlying the American Revolution, which in turn was brought about by a Jesuit priest, Lorenzo Ricci (aka Laurence Richey), as part of a plan to make America safe for Roman Catholics. Catholics were oppressed in colonial times, Saussy notes, but Catholic immigrants flooded into the U.S. from Europe in the decades following the Revolution. This book has a blurb from fellow HarperCollins author and conspiracy theorist Jim Marrs, and the publisher, in a press release and apparently asleep at the wheel, calls it a "riveting, well-researched and well-documented account of one man's discovery of the true driving forces behind our nation's history." But most will see it for what it really is an anti-Catholic version of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

About the Author
F. Tupper Saussy, a native of the southeastern United States, spent ten years as a fugitive from the IRS, the period during which he did the research for this book. A true Renaissance man, he has been nominated three times for a Grammy Award, is a distinguished watercolorist, and is the author of the bestselling book The Miracle on Main Street. He lives in Santa Monica, California.

Master Piece

Excellent book, a must have if you are to understand the mechansm that controls the earth today. I recommend looking up Prof Walter Veith for anyone desiring a good lecture (try to find his more up to date lecture on youtube). A book that you also must have is Romansm and the Reformation by Henry Grattan Guiness, the work in this book is so profound that it must be read by every living soul on the planet, youl see that sir Isaac Newton and many many others icluding all the reformers were unanimous in their conclusions regarding prophacy, saddly such theology has been erased from the minds of today.

The best book on the subject I've read. Great style, very readable. It's one of the few books about this that won't make you feel defiled. The last sentence was a disappointment - see why... then forgive him - he's only human.

I learned alot in this book. However, he made such a good case for all his research, that I thought he rather copped out at toward the end of the book. But even then, this is such a good book, that it deserves 5 stars.

Playful romantic story!

this is a true romantic story I've ever read Abby just a secretary and Jackson a handsome sexy billionaire she was getting to get fired for not listening to her boss at first then he realized how much everyone had liked the event so instead of firing her he had a plan to fake an engagement for a few weeks that turned out to be somewhat crazy and sweet you'll have to read the book to find out more I love this romantic playful story line incredible worth reading The Author Veronica Sexton knows what she's doing to make it a real page turner very recommended!

Poorly written. The word allah is written in Arabic randomly throughout the book. This is a children's book and will be tossed around and taken into the bathroom by my children.
The story seams ideal, but it does not represent school anxiety for children, which is what I was expecting. The story line is basic, kids come home from school, eat a snack, go to "madrasa", write Arabic alphabet, read Quran, color, eat a snack, pray, and go home. That's it.
I was expecting a book about going to school for the first time (normal school, not an after school type of school), that my child can relate to. This was definitely not it. Even in the event my child went to "madrasa", I would not get this book.
